A guided 24 mile/38km challenge walk as part of a small group in the Dark Peak area of the Peak District.
The walk begins in the village of Hathersage (Train station, accommodation, cafes etc) and takes in a variety of moorland and gritstone edges. This spectacular route takes in Stanage Edge, High Neb to the Snake Road, Derwent Edge as far as Back Tor, Derwent and Ladybower Reservoirs, and finally Win Hill, descending to Hathersage via Bamford.
Participants must be fit and able to complete a full day out on the hills and be comfortable walking all day with small breaks. Please be aware that the terrain is hilly and boggy in places.
The distance is approximately 24 miles/39 kilometres.
The cost is £40 per person. Please book and pay below. You are booking with Rachel Bolton who will lead the walk on the day.
We meet in the public car park in the village of Hathersage on Oddfellows Road. Post code S32 1DD. It's opposite the swimming pool. The car park is a Pay & Display and costs £6 per day. At the present time, the ticket machine ONLY TAKES CASH.
We meet at 8.00 am to be ready to leave at 8.15am.
If you need accommodation locally, the village of Hathersage is ideal, or the villages of Grindleford, Bradwell, Hope of Castleton are just a short drive away.
