Gritstone Edges Challenge Walk

Gritstone Edges Challenge Walk

Gritstone Edges Challenge Walk, Peak District. 26 June 2021.

Saturday 26 June 2021.  With Rachel Bolton or Richard Tower.

Fully booked

A guided challenge walk in the Dark Peak area of the Peak District, as part of a small group.

Also known as The Nine Edges Challenge Walk, this is a 21 mile route that crosses nine gritstone edges in the eastern part of the Peak District.  We traverse famous edges with stunning scenery and includes Derwent, Stanage, Frogatt, Curbar, Baslow, and Birchen edges.

Our walk commences at Fairholmes car park in the Derwent Valley and ends at the Robin Hood near Chatsworth.  A gem of a walk!

This is a linear walk so we will be organising car shares to return to our starting point.  If there remains Covid–19 restrictions in place with sharing transport, we will hire a mini bus to take us to Fairholmes at the start of the walk and leave all cars at the Robin Hood.

The distance is about 23 miles/36km with approximately 1,200 metres/3,970 feet of ascent.  We hope to complete the route in between 9 - 11 hours.

The cost to join this challenge walk is £40 per person.  Please book and pay below.  You are booking with Rachel Bolton, and the walk on the day will be guided either by Rachel or by Richard Tower.
