6. Limestone Hills and Dales Challenge Walk

Saturday 29 July 2023 - Early start time of 8.00am 

 

A guided challenge walk as part of a small group.  This beautiful and varied challenge walk centres on the heart of the Peak District known as the White Peak, passing through river valleys, limestone hills and dales, quaint villages and magnificent views!

 

The walk starts in the centre of Monyash, and visits many areas of historical importance, including ancient stone circles, lead mining sites, water mills and walking along ancient tracks. The breathtaking countryside includes woodland, moor and limestone dales. We visit Carlton Lees and Chatsworth, Stanton Moor, Youlgreave, Rowsley villages, The Monsal Trail, Monsal Dale, Deep Dale and Bradford Dale. 

 

This walk is 23 miles. Participants must be fit and able to complete a full day out in the hills with only short breaks. A good pace will be expected to be maintained throughout the day. 

 

The walk should take approximately 10 hours and is 23 miles/37 km in length, with approximately 1,100 metres of ascent.

 

The cost to join this walk is £40 per person.  Please book and pay below.

Meeting Place and Time

We meet at 7:45am to be ready to set off promptly at 8:00am at Monyash village public car park, where car parking is free.  More details will be provided upon booking.
