A guided walk in the White Peak area as part of a small group of no more than 6 people plus your friendly, professional walk leader. Throughout the walk your guide will 'bring the countryside to life' by sharing with you a wealth of local knowledge.
From the village of Over Haddon we take a path down into the valley of the River Lathkill and along to the tiny hamlet of Alport. From there we take another pretty riverside path through delightful Bradford Dale to join part of the long distance Limestone Way path near to Youlgreave. The path winds its way up the hillside and through fields. This is dry-stone wall country, typical of The White Peak. We then enter Lathkill Dale, one of the area's famous, deep limestone gorges. We explore the remains of an ancient quarry and learn about 'Black Ashford Marble', then walk up to a high point above the dale for magnificent views.
The walk is about 11miles/18km and with approx 300 metres of ascent.
Please book below.
We meet at 9:15am to be ready for a 9:30am start in the main public car park in the village of Over Haddon. It is next to the public toilets. Nearest Post Code is DE45 1HZ but that won't take you to the exact spot.
The Google map opposite that you can zoom in and out of shows the location.
The following information sheet provides advice regarding what to wear and what to bring with you.
If you would like to stay locally the night before or after this walk, the village of Over Haddon or the town of Bakewell are nearby. See our accommodation page for further information.
For greater flexibility, why not do this as a private guided walk on a day of your choice, either on your own or with a group of friends or family?.
