Sunday 8 April 2018 and Friday 20 July 2018
A full day guided walk as part of a small group of usually no more than six people plus your guide on what is arguably the best ridge walk in the Peak District. Throughout the day, your friendly, professional guide will share with you a wealth of knowledge about the local history, geology, wildlife and plant life.
We meet at Hope railway station and take the train to Edale. Our linear walk then takes us through the pretty Vale of Edale and ascends steeply up the hillside up onto Rushup Edge. From there we follow the stunning ridge of hills along over Mam Tor, Hollins Cross, Back Tor and Lose Hill. On a clear day, there are panoramic views along the ridge and on one side over the Vale of Edale to Kinder Scout and on the other side down the Hope Valley.
Our walk finishes in the village of Hope with the option to enjoy a cup of tea and a cake in the cafe before the short stroll back to the station.
The walk is about 9 miles/15km with approx 550 metres of ascent, some of which is steep.
The cost to join the walk is £38 per person which includes the rail fare to Edale. Please book and pay below.
We meet at 9:25am at Hope railway station. The post code is S33 6RD, but that covers an area of about a square mile, so a sat nav might not take you to exactly the right place. It's about half a mile outside of the village of Hope on the road towards Bamford and Hathersage.
We will be getting the 9:40 train to Edale, and then walking back to Hope. There is free car parking available at the station. For further clarification please see the Google map on this page.
Accessible by public transport.
If you would like to stay locally the night before or after this walk, the villages of Hope, Edale or Castleton are nearby. See our accommodation page for further information.
