A full day guided walk as part of a small group of usually no more than six people plus your guide to explore the Saddleworth Edges, and to walk alongside the beautiful Dove Stone Reservoir. Throughout the day, your friendly, professional guide will share with you a wealth of knowledge.
From the side of Dovestone Reservoir, we initially follow paths around the water before taking an adventurous and steep route that follows the side of a stream with waterfalls. We then walk along the Saddleworth Edges high above the reservoir with stunning gritstone rock formations, and panoramic views across the valley to the hills beyond. We'll see the famous 'Trinnacle' rock, and other interesting features on the moors. Upon reaching Chew Reservoir. high on the edge of the moorlands, we than take a well made track back down to Dovestone.
The walk is about 10 miles/16km with approx 500 metres of ascent. A short section of the walk involves a scramble up rocks, up the side of a waterfall. A head for heights is required
for this section.
The cost is £38 per person. Please book and pay below.
We meet at 9:00am ready for a 9:15am start in the car park at Dove Stone Reservoir. Post code OL3 7NE. The car park is a Pay & Display and costs £2.50 per day. The ticket machine only takes coins. The Google map to the right that you can zoom in and out or marks the spot.
Unfortunately this walk is difficult to access by public transport.
