Semi-Wild Camping & Trekking Expeditions in the Peak District

Semi-Wild Camping, Peak District

Our semi-wild camping and trekking expeditions in the Peak District make a great introduction to wild camping.  They involve easier hill walking than our Snowdonia mountain wild camps.  That makes them especially suitable for anyone who isn't sure how they would cope with carrying the weight up a large, heavy rucksack up a steep mountain side.

We have gained permission to camp on private land in a lovely countryside location amongst trees.

These semi-wild camping experiences offer an opportunity to enjoy guided countryside walks in the Peak District over two consecutive days, camping overnight along the route. We provide light weight but strong mountain tents and suitable cooking equipment.  Your evening meal and breakfast will be enjoyed in beautiful surroundings!

We follow the principles of 'Leave no Trace' minimising our impact on the fragile countryside environment.  You also learn about the law relating to wild camping in the UK.

Although involving less ascent and descent than our Snowdonia wild camping weekends, you must still have a reasonable level of fitness and be able to carry a large rucksack throughout the walk containing your day walking kit, tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bag, cooking equipment and food.  All of this can weigh around 13 - 14 kilos.

Available on a private guided basis, on flexible dates.  Please note however that most of our weekend dates for 2017 are now booked up.

Itinerary

Day 1

We meet at lunchtime in the small town of Wirksworth to discuss and plan the adventure, then get the local bus to Carsington Water from where we head off on foot into the beautiful countryside to enjoy stunning scenery.

We will reach our camping place late afternoon or early evening and having set up camp, you will cook and enjoy your evening meal in 'the great outdoors'.

Day 2

After breakfast we will pack up camp and continue on our walk through the beautiful landscapes of the Peak District, returning to Wirksworth via a different route at about lunch time.

Cost

This experience is available on a private guided basis for small groups of between two and four people on flexible dates at the price of £440 (works out at £110 each if there are four in the group).
