Dark Peak Backpacking and Camping Weekend

New Experience for 2021!

3. Dark Peak Backpacking and Camping Weekend

Friday 23 July - Sunday 25 July 2021.  With Rachel Bolton.

Do you have some experience of walking in the hills?  Would you like to explore the Peak District over two days on a backpacking adventure and camp under the stars?

During the weekend, we will be basing ourselves in the stunning Kinder Scout/Edale/Hope area and using two certified campsites.

Here is an example of what to expect during the weekend :

  • Meet approx. 6.00pm on Friday evening 23rd July at Hope station (Direct trains from Sheffield and Manchester.  Connections to London, Birmingham, Glasgow etc)
  • Our base for the evening will be a certified campsite (Toilets and facilities) near Hope.
  • We will settle in for the evening, have a meal cooked on your stove and the opportunity to visit a local pub (If Covid restrictions allow)
  • We will plan our route together to the next campsite depending on the groups needs, skills, weather and conditions.  We will discuss skills, equipment, gear etc for a backpacking journey.  Approx distance to Saturdays campsite will be 10 miles (17km).
  • Cars can be left at the Hope campsite until our return.
  • After a good breakfast, cooked on your stove, we pack away all gear into our rucksacks and set off to the next certified  camp site (Toilets and facilities).  Your walk leaders will be your guides but if you want to get involved in the navigating with our support, that’s absolutely fine.
  • When we arrive, we will set up our tent, relax and cook a meal on our stoves and discuss tomorrow’s return journey etc. (Approx distance back to Hope campsite will be 10 miles 17km.)
  • We will return to our cars at Hope station /campsite approx. 4.00pm Sunday 25th July.
