Padley Gorge, Millstone Edge, Higger Tor and Burbage Edge.
Saturday 20 February (Re-arranged from 9 January) 2021
A lovely winter walk, and one of my favourites! You will be part of a small group of usually no more than five people plus your guide.
After walking through the pleasant grounds of the lodge, we descend to Padley Gorge and explore the beautiful stream, moorland, millstone quarries and rocks around the upper part of the gorge. Our walk then takes us along Millstone Edge which has one of the most stunning views to be seen in the Peak District! We climb gradually on to Higger Tor and from there our route follows Burbage edge back to Longshaw.
The walk is about 8 miles/13k with about 900 feet/280 metres of elevation.
The cost is £38 per person. Please book and pay below. You are booking with Rachel Bolton who will guide the walk on the day.
We meet at the Longshaw National Trust, Woodcroft car park off the B6055, 200 yards south of junction with A625 (Fox House Inn). Pay and Display £5.00 for four hours or more or free for National Trust members.
Meet at 9.15am for a 9.30am start.
If you would like to stay locally the night before or after this walk, the village of Hathersage is nearby and has a selection of B&Bs, inns, and self catering accommodation.
