Sunday 4 July 2021
Our open group walks this week a little shorter than our normal walks, making them ideal for families with children, and giving ample opportunity to explore the many attractions in the area.
We leave the village of Castleton and climb up to a wonderful little peak called Back Tor on the Great Ridge. The views of Kinder Scout, Bleaklow and Win Hill are extensive and some of the best in the Peak District. We complete the Great Ridge ascending Lose hill and return to Castleton via Hope Village and a path that follows the gentle stream of Peakshole Water.
This is a hilly walk of about 7 miles/11 kilometres, with a total ascent of about 1,155 feet/352 metres. One section of the ascent is steep.
The cost to join this guided walk is £38 per person. Please book and pay below. You are booking with Rachel Bolton who will lead the walk on the day.
We meet at 9:00am to be ready to set off at 9:15am at the seating area outside the public toilets in the car park that is next to the Visitor Centre in the village of Castleton. The post code is S33 8WH. (Please note, this is NOT the Peak Cavern car park which is down the road).
The car park is a Pay & Display and costs £6.00 per day. CASH ONLY.
