Our open group guided walks this weekend are a little shorter than our normal walks, making them ideal for families with children, and giving ample opportunity to explore the many attractions in the area.
Castleton is a wonderful village to start our walk with many show caves, shops, cafes and a visitor centre to explore. We leave via the magnificent limestone dale of Cave Dale and ascend via the open moor, lanes and tracks to Mam Tor. Mam Tor is the site of a hill fort and is a fine example of a geological land slide. We will take time to explore its summit and surrounding area before returning to Castleton via Hollins Cross.
This is a hilly walk of about 7 miles/11 kilometres with approximately 1,320 feet/403 metres of ascent.
The cost to join this walk is £38 per person. Please book and pay below. You are booking with Rachel Bolton who will lead the walk on the day.
We meet at 9:00am to be ready to set off at 9:15am at the seating area outside the public toilets in the car park that is next to the Visitor Centre in the village of Castleton. The post code is S33 8WH. (Please note, this is NOT the Peak Cavern car park which is down the road).
The car park is a Pay & Display and costs £6.00 per day. CASH ONLY
