Sunday 25 April and Sunday 17 October 2021
A guided walk as part of a small group of no more than five people plus your guide to venture up the beautiful high valley called Scandale, then via a mountain pass to the summit of the mountain called Red Screes (776m)
Starting from the popular town of Ambleside, we take a path up the hillside to cross over both Low Sweden Bridge and then High Sweden Bridge which cross over pretty streams. We then take the wide track up the high valley of Scandale, gradually gaining height until we reach a high mountain pass. From here we continue more steeply up the hillside to the summit of Red Screes. If it's a clear day, we'll be able to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Our descent from Red Screes is on a different path, again enjoying fine views ahead, this time over Ambleside and towards Lake Windermere.
The distance is about 8 miles/13 kilometres with approximately 835 metres of ascent/descent. The ground will be rough in places. If there has been much rainfall, the path could be boggy in places and we could have shallow streams to wade across. Waterproof hiking boots are therefore recommended. Despite the mountain's name, we won't encounter any scree on the path.
The cost to join this guided walk up is £38 per person. You are booking with Cath Lee who will guide the walk. Please book and pay below.
