Castleton and The Great Ridge

9. Castleton and The Great Ridge, Peak District

Tuesday 19 October, Wednesday 3 November, Wednesday 10 November, Thursday 2 December 2021.  With Rachel Bolton or Richard Tower.

A classic walk with some of the best views in the Peak District!

You will be joining a small group of usually no more than six people plus your friendly, professional guide who will share with you a wealth of knowledge throughout the day.

We leave Castleton via Cave Dale an impressive narrow limestone valley.  After a gradual ascent via Windy Knoll we reach the summit of Mam Tor, a hill fort with stunning views across the Dark Peak, Kinder Scout and the Derwent moors.  We keep our height as we walk along the ridge of Hollins Cross, Back Tor and on to Lose Hill.  Here we look back to view and celebrate the whole of our walk!

A gradual descent brings us back to Castleton to enjoy some well earned refreshment!

The walk is about 9 miles/14km with approx 600 metres of ascent/descent, some of which is steep.

The cost to join this walk is £38 per person.  Please book and pay below.  You are booking with Rachel Bolton who will guide the walk on the day.
