Highlights of this guided walk are viewing the dramatic millstone edges of Froggatt and Baslow, delightful woodland paths and the River Derwent. 


Our walk starts at Grindleford Rail Station.  We ascend through quiet woodland paths to Froggatt Edge where we are rewarded by views of the surrounding hills and the Derwent Valley.  The tops of Curbar and Baslow Edges are followed by a descent to Baslow village and a return through delightful lanes, more woodland and by the side of the majestic River Derwent. 


The distance is about 10.5 miles.  Elevation is approx 940 feet/287 metres.

Meeting Place and Time


We meet outside the Grindleford Station Cafe.  Post code S32 2HY.  Car parking is available on the side of the road that leads down to the station.  There is a £2 charge with ticket machines along the roadside. 


We meet at 9.15am for a 9.30am start. 



If you would like to stay locally the night before or after this walk, the villages of Grindleford and Hathersage are nearby and has a selection of B&Bs, inns, and self catering accommodation.
