The Route

Starting close to the village of Bamford (with its own rail station on the Manchester to Sheffield line close by), the route follows road, track and field paths onto the rocky ridge of Bamford Edge.  There are stunning views in all directions and this is a wonderful spot to get some action photographs amongst the rocks!  The walk then descends and crosses over Cut Throat Bridge before climbing onto the Southern part of Derwent Edge.

We descend then to the valley bottom over the Ladybower Reservoir, famous for the Dam Busters practise flights to launch the 'bouncing bomb' during the Second World War. A very steep climb finally brings us to the summit of Win Hill a fantastic vantage point to view our day's walk.  A long descent brings us back to our start in Bamford.

Please note:

The route described may vary according to participants level of ability, progress and weather conditions. Please be aware that the terrain maybe steep, hilly, rocky and boggy in places. Participants must be fit and able to complete a full day out on the hills and be comfortable walking all day with small breaks.

The cost to join this walk is £38 per person.  Please book and pay below.
