A guided trek training walk as part of a small group, from the village of Warslow in the White Peak, taking in Ecton Hill, Wetton Hill and a trip up to Thors Cave!
Highest Point: 363m/1190ft
Total Ascent: 1025m/3362ft
Approximate Time: 6.5hrs (dependent on party's overall pace)
Our walk starts from the peaceful village of Warslow, equidistant between Ashbourne and Buxton. The route soon climbs high onto Ecton Hill, a fascinating area of industrial history including many disused copper mines. Wetton Mill is a perfect place to stop for refreshments before the steep climb onto Wetton Hill, where we are rewarded with far reaching views across Derbyshire and neighbouring Staffordshire. A slight deviation off the route to Thors Cave is well worth the effort to view this amazing natural cavern, perched high on the hillside. Our final summit of the day, Ossoms Hill, allows us to view the beautiful Manifold Valley below before we return to Warslow.
The route described may vary according to participants level of ability, progress and weather conditions. Please be aware that the terrain maybe steep, hilly, rocky and boggy in places. Participants must be fit and able to complete a full day out on the hills and be comfortable walking all day with small breaks.
The cost to join this walk is £38 per person. Please book and pay below.
We meet in the village of Warslow at 9.15am, to leave promptly for 9.30am. Details will be sent to you when you book.
